Post a question over in the Q&A section or post something in the Seeking Services section of you're willing to pay for someones time to train you.  From the looks of it though I'm guessing that wall is (or should be) the bottom side of a roof or ceiling plane.

  2. Thanks, AS  I will start that long delayed task this afternoon.  I just looked up some great looking videos on the video tutorial site, so will go there.

    Thanks again.

Don't feel like you always have to go to the tutorials and videos.  Those can eat up an astronomical sum of time.  Sometimes the best route is to just use the Help files.

  3. Thank you Alaskan! it worked out well.

      You’re welcome :)

  4. Just got around to actually applying the video you so kindly made for me!  Worked like a charm.  Thank you for taking the time to help!

  5. Micheal,

I have a question and without a lot of silly answers from others I thougtht I would just ask you since you are the Guru in my eyes.  I just got feedback from the planning dept. on a project that I am working on and it brought up a question that I have not had a chance to make this type of change in CA as of yet.  I have created a floor plan for an attached guest house but not I need to reflect the plan so the entrance is on the opposite side.  How do I take everything that I have on the addition and flip it without doing the whole plan itself?  I am at a loss as I have the perfect plan just want to flip the addition.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Chris

Hey Chris, I haven’t had to do that myself, but I’m thinking your best bet is to very carefully draw a polyline that perfectly encloses just the addition, select the polyline and then WITH THE POLYLINE SELECTED, activate the appropriate Edit Area tool and copy, reflect, and then optionally paste/hold position to replace the original stuff (might be best to carefully delete that stuff one item at a time just to be safe).  Will probably still require some cleanup though.

  7. Hey DMD, made a quick video for you for my method of the double gable- maybe it helps you out.

    Cheers!

Remember those methods are really only valid if you can turn auto roofs on. In David's example this may or may not have been possible.  Also, just a thought, but I find that the automated tools aren't a great start for beginners much of the time because as soon as they can't use auto for some reason then they're stumped all over again.  For this reason, I often like to teach people the manual way very early on.

It's not necessarily public, I had clicked on your profile because I was going to send you a PM about something and I happened to notice this post on there.  Anyway, no, you don't need to break the wall.  We have a specific tool called a Gable Roof Line.  Check under your roof tools.

      Hey Rene,

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but that window trick is actually just adding a Gable Roof Line...something you can do manually without the window.

  10. I was/am having issues with all room heights on floor 1 changing when I change the height of "one" room. After reading where others had the same issue because of the second floor being designated as "attic", I deleted the second floor and rebuilt the second floor as a blank plan. After drawing the walls for the bonus room over the garage, I cannot select to bonus room to open its definition. All walls are connected to form a room. Thoughts?

I have a question for you,
I there something you can make a macro for or some sort of Ruby file that can make Chief's dimension fractions half the size they are now? (see attachment)
    Is this possible in Chief?
Is this something you can do?
    How much would you charge?

    Thanks

Hey Brian, just sent you a PM, but in short...No.  I can do that with polylines and a custom font as I demonstrated here...

      ...but not with dimensions.

  12. Hi,

I was curious about the software you use to make your videos. There are questions that i have and i think recording would be easier to ask from than typing everything out.

I use Snagit.  I would highly recommend it.  It's useful for a lot more than videos too and is well worth the money.

  13. Michael,

My room SQ FT does not match the Living area label value. I verified the Living area included Matched Properties function to verify and all looks correct but the values. Any idea?

How exactly are you displaying the room square footage?  Are you using the standard area, the interior area, or...?

  14. Good Morning from Galveston, TX. Michael,

Hope you're well. Hey, I'm looking for the video you did on switching levels and changing Anno/Layer sets using the macro table icons. would you mind pointing me there?

    Thanks,

  15. I'm not quite sure what this is. Can I assume that the old chat is gone.

I'm not sure what its for either. Only access seems to be by floating over someone's name and there seems to be no way of getting notifications if and when there are any comments added. I just use the forum itself and the private messenger.

  16. How do I post questions?

Click on one of the forums and then in the upper right hand area you should see a button titled "Start New Topic". Click on that.

  17. What is the easiest way to center an object, for instance a cabinet, between two windows in Premiere X6?

    1. Alaskan_Son

      Alaskan_Son

Control or Shift select the 2 windows and the cabinet, click on Align/Distribute Objects, and then select either Distribute Centers Evenly or Space Evenly.
