No that tool is strictly for 2d cad work or layering in 2d views.  You will need to create the actual symbol and place it correctly in the X,Y,Z axis.

I am guessing you copied this from another thread, and as Dermot recommends in that thread the program comes with free technical support when we carry current ssa coverage, since you have x12 per your signature maybe you still have ssa current.  Call technical support and have your product registration key handy.  But they are great to work with and that is why the professionals who use this program are very willing to PAY the price for the software...

Best of luck on your endeavors.

it was a mistake and i did not knew how to get rid of it

As always.  Model it like it's built.

In this case you have two layers of materials there.  A background material and some lit "tiles" that stick out.  Make a texture of the background and build a resizable symbol with a light behind it and manually place them in a wall elevation view where you want the 3d "tiles" to stick out.

    Thank you Ray

I have tried it as you have suggested but I cannot find the tool  send back / bring forwarded

Maybe using that i can achieve the result. Can you send me the path of that tool?

    Thank you

If you are seeking help from Chief Architect, then I recommend that you contact our technical support department.  Please have your product registration information ready.

  3. Hi Expert friends

I have recently faced a problem, I sketched a couple of rooms and have drawn false ceiling using tray ceiling tool in x12, due to some reasons i had to add a new story over the building.

As it was done it showed me triangle highlighting some problem in every room, when i clicked that triangle it read (failed to construct a tray ceiling, cannot recess a tray ceiling into a rooms floor platform, Enter turnoff Recess into the ceiling option or choose a location that is not below another room)

Can anyone help me to tackle this issue.

I have attached a picture of sample problem please see the drop, framing is visible.

Secondly can we use this tray ceiling to make a drop down ceiling instead of recessed one?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hello Expert Friends:

I am trying to resize the window treatment covers as per site requirement,

    1. The curtains are controllable from top and bottom but not from side (if i am not missing out) the sides of the window frame are visible.
    2. The blinds are placed inside of the window frame, what if i need it over the windows.

Thank you in advance, Sample file attached

    Dear All

Thank you to all those friends who have removed me from negative list

I don't know what that negative marks meant but they were quite embarrassing in some sense.

    Thank you again

    Hi friends:

I have been trying to design a 4 story building with columns. Adding additional stories is no problem, but while i create the stories/floors, colums are not copied in that floor. May be i am missing something.

    Any one can advise.

I am attaching a sample structure for this to get familiar.

    thanks

    Salahuddin,

It is true that this software was designed more for typical western-style wood framed or masonry residential construction, but as the guys above have implied, you CAN do it with this software, but you will have to do a lot of things manually.  If you will have an engineer, and a curtain-wall/aluminum storefront specialist involved, and you just need to provide the basic look of the building for them it will be okay.  For the curtain wall, just use a glass wall type, and then 4" or so inside of that glass wall use an invisible wall all the way around to separate the floors from the glass wall, and you'll have to make polyline solids to represent the glass framing.   Good luck.

    You are a genius

    Thumbs Up for you

Yes, there are several ways one might go about this. It would be a good idea to start by examining the exterior wall definitions as they relate to the structure. Some of the details of the curtain wall would need to be modeled using 'manual' tools like solids, moldings, material regions, etc...

I would need to see more of the plan for your structural connections before I could suggest anything further. Feel free to post a screenshot or detail drawing showing your proposed exterior wall assembly...curtain wall relative to columns...interior finish around columns...connections and finish at platform junctions...you get the idea.

in this way can we make schedule for windows ??

  10. I have attached the plan wherein i have tried to make a curtain wall with the help of nana wall, and windows, but did not succeeded.

I am also facing a problem (dont know how to) lift the road level or terrain level 6' above ie join the lower of upper stair and top of the stair going downwards.

    thanks in advance
