  3. Ok, I got it working. Actually I use Home Designer Architectural so I cannot export 3D stuff but I know someone who can.

    • In Chief create a "Perspective Full Overview." 3D->Create Perspective View->Perspective Full Overview
    • Then Export to dae format (3D Collada). File->Export->Export 3D COLLADA Model (DAE)
    • Now backup the entire plan to a zip file. File->Backup Entire Plan->Backup Plan Files and all Referenced Files. Also Check "Send Backup Files to Zip Archive"
    • Extract the zip files to a folder, copy in the dae file you exported.
    • Open Unity. Go to Assets, Materials, and copy all your files from the Backup Plan archive here, except the .plan and .dae file.
    • Copy the dae file to the Assets directory.
    • Finally click the dae file in Unity and under Materials, ensure Import Materials is checked and these to options are selected: Material Naming: By Base Texture Name; Material Search: Recursive-Lookup.
Now you should be able to copy your dae file to the Unity Scene window and see your plan including textures.

  4. It would be nice to have simple control over the gables- and there are times where it can be really annoying that panels and drawer fronts use the same material.

BTW I more often see different finish on doors and drawer than the entire box so had never dealt with this but here ya go. Only spent a few minutes on this but should get you going I hope.

What is the best way to get where you want really depends on what type of cabinet construction you are using.

The side panels were selected from the library NOT the drop down list. Used material painter in component mode to change colors.

For inset you would need to get rid of the standard toe, float the cabinet up and add a separate one. For full overlay I'd just paint the side and be done with it as close enough.

Thanks mark, so it ,looks like no quick way to change all the cabinet components at once, 3 things, cabinet faces, cabinets, panels.

  5. How much does the Asus weigh? I know that you mentioned that you wanted light weight. I carry my macbook with me everywhere and its 3.5 pounds. After a while it gets heavy. I had to sacrifice the size/performance of the 15" for function and got the 13" because I always need a computer with me. I used to carry a heavier laptop around in college so I knew weight becomes an issue.

    My current laptop weighs 2.6kg or 5.7lbs...I7, 8gb ddr3, 1tb drive, gt 540m 1gb....

I take my laptop to clients homes to input 3d model and again to show them final design..i wanted something somewhat light

but good enough not to hamper me with ca.

This one below is 5lbs...a mac book pro 15" = 4.4lbs...also $3k...love to have this but it is twice the price.

I wonder if new 13" mac book pro would work..still about 3lbs...$2300..if this would work it would be very compact, not available for 4-5 weeks

  6. Is there no way to define gables material from cabinet faces?

I want to be able to show a customer different cabinet scenarios...too bad cabinet and drawer/doors cant be controlled all at once?

cabinets and doors and drawers are under materials but gables you have to go into cabinets to change, shouldnt gables be set from cabinet doors?

  9. Thanks Jere, i can do this for some of the small folders, but i have some very large folders that are duplicated.

I have 6 texture folders with over 14,000 objects in each...so i select and right click and delete file, ca copies items first and then deleted them, it takes about 15-20 mins to do this for just one.

I thought there might be a location on my drive that i could delete duplicates easier.

  10. Hi everyone, i am doing a reno design and did a asbuilt plan and then converted it to a cadd detail.

When this is done the fixtures change from my initial colour i have chosen as orange to black.

If i explode the fixtures then i can change some lines back to orange but some i cant and some

like the sinks show all the areas as triangles that turn the fixture a solid colour.

Any ideas on the best way to keep these one colour.

I want to load this cadd file in background to show existing plan while i revise for reno.

  11. i called bosch and they confirmed they glm 50c sends the same data as the glm 100c only difference is the 100c scans to 330' vs 165'

I called CA and they said that according to their supported devices the glm 50c is not one of them.  The program recognizes the glm 50c i dont understand why the room planer will not take data?

Come on Chief add this to the supported devices, it cant be so hard when the glm 100c is already there.
