I made a copy of a few electrical and plumbing symbols and added a custom label to them then saved them to my library. However when I place them into a new plan the label is not shown even though the label is shown in the dbx. and the label is not suppressed. If I'm in a plan and I open one of these symbols and then add the custom label it will show but not any that I've saved to the library for future use. Any thoughts? It not the plan because it does it in a brand new plan also. See attached. Thanks

I increase the camaras field of view and turned off backdrop and seemed to fix it

Mark when you zoomed out with perspective tool did you rotate the view using the Move Camera with Mouse tool? That's when I get the issue. If I zoom straight back I don't

Thanks Mark. As usual you are the symbol modification guru

Yes Mick. Its all in the details and clients love to see all the accessories during design reviews. I posted it in the Suggestions Forum.

The issue with the ones in the library is they don't have the correct materials. There is only one material like the trashcan. Instead of the can being white and the rollout frame aluminum or chrome it is all wood or all chrome unlike the one I attached in the post above. The spice is all wood when the actual unit is wood but the shelf rails are chrome. see below

I have found a few RAS pullout units with the correct materials versus the ones in CA library, (Single and double trash, spice, utensil and a few others), imported them and they will insert into a cabinet fine but when I change the width of the cabinet the unit does not widen with it. This actually imported as a CAD block. I figure its something to do with stretch planes but that is beyond my skills with SU. Is there another way or a site where I can download the symbols that will work? Thanks... Rob

I found this site that has some really good wallpapers, rugs and more. Most of the wallpapers repeat well but there are some with a crazy pattern that doesn't. I used some of the wallpaper textures as fabrics and rugs so pretty universal. https://www.wallpaperboulevard.com/ All three of the walls in this rendering are actually wallpaper from here with wood planks and circular wallpaper in the foyer

It seems that most of RAS symbols all have a single material such as all wood. If it is supposed to be a stainless steel insert or chrome rails it is all wood. Ive looked on 3D WH to find the pullout with no luck. Is there a way to take what's in the library and edit the symbol to allow for the correct materials? The attached pics are what is in the library and the other is what it actually looks like

Thanks for the help. What Im trying to show is a custom top loading cookie sheet tray pullout we custom build. (See pics of one of ours) Basicly a deep drawer with dividers. I took a cabinet storage box and added 3d solids as dividers and saved it as a symbol but it does not show show in the library as an option to use. Probably doing it wrong as I'm new trying to create symbols. Our sides and dividers have curved scoops but that even more of a challenge.

Maybe I shouldve asked, If you add an additional column from the pre-loaded column names or a custom column, where do you enter the text so it shows in those columns? I added cabinet type but where do you enter that information? Or if I wanted to specify where in the kitchen a cabinet belongs (that is not a separate room)... Island, bar, pantry, etc.

How can one change the text in a schedule. I've added custom columns but where can you enter the information that goes into that column? Even an existing column such as description, I dont see anywhere it can be changed. Instead of Utility Cabinet, I want it to show Pantry Cabinet or Linen Cabinet or whatever. There is a location in the cabinet dbx to enter comments or notes but not description

Yes, you can control which cabinets are labeled C1, C2, C3, etc.
- Double click on the cabinet schedule to open it up.
- Click on a cabinet and drag it or use arrow keys to move it up or down rows. For example, say you want the cabinet that is showing C42 to be C1 instead. Just click on the C42 row and move it up to C1.
- Btw, in the schedule you are also able to change the callout to a different letter if you want and you can change the shape of the callout (which is helpful if you have multiple schedules in one plan).
Column for notes / comments
- These are controlled in each cabinet dialog box.
- Open cabinet dialog box.
- Go to Object Information.
- Enter any notes in the Comment field. These show up on your schedule because your designer added that column to her schedule.
Susan
Thanks Susan. I assume to have different Letters such as an I to signify the Island, W for walls, B for base and T for talls, P of panels, I would have to have all these on their won separate schedule. I tried to add a colulmn for room type but you cant enter those manually the island is in the kitchen then the room type would be kitchen. If a column lets say Location could be added then I would sperate the island, base, walls and talls that way.

Thanks. That got it

Can the C1, C2 and so on be assigned to certain cabinets versus allowing the program to auto assign. Right now I have C1 next to cabinet C39. Can and entire run of cabinets be C1, C2, C3......? Also on the schedule there is a column for notes/comments. Where can those comments be entered. Obviously I have not used schedules that often. Thanks for all the help

Ok so I can change the name of the callout that appears on the schedule. B for base, W for walls, T for talls and so on

Looks great Eric. My wife designs furniture for a few lines and has her own private line. She is wanting to be able to find those specific furniture symbols and fabrics. A lot of other design software like 2020 and MyDoma have a lot more furniture mfg. in their libraries as they are more geared for interior design. I know we got Kravit recently and its a bit on the mid to higher line. She was interested in a few of these other software's that do have an expanded furniture mfg selection. Not to replace CA but there have been several furniture pieces that I've been able to find something close and try to reproduce a seamless screenshot of the fabric but again close but missing, especially with raytrace you can tell. Im not looking to switch from CA ever. Its mainly for the designers with interior design only clients.

Good Weekend Morning to All...
I had one of my designers work on a cabinet layout and get the cabinet schedule ready for ordering. I would ask her but she is on vacation. Cabinets in plan view have a specified label assigned to each. In this case she labeled one PO Trash for a trashcan pullout, however in plan view it is showing a different label of C45. C45 is also what is showing on the schedule. Am I missing something? Is there somewhere else this C45 label is located to allow it to be changed? If I need to upload the plan I will but its a bit large. Thanks

Thanks. What the difference between setting it as a callout and not a callout

Thanks for the input

Nevermind. Bonehead move on my part. The electrical label layer was turned off. I left this post up in case someone else make the same rookie mistake
