From your 'Active Layer Display Options', select the 'All Layers OFF' layer set and then switch on just the layers from the DWG file. You can then select and then delete them.

I agree with Mark, adjusting your shade material and emissive value are the key. I also like to add a light source to enhance the scene. You'll have to create a second floor if you want conditioned rooms in that space. Select 'Make new blank plan for the 2nd floor' then draw in the walls manually.

You can start by letting Auto Roof draw it for you and the modify as needed. You can also select the walls for the garage and your front porch and mark them as 'Full Gable Wall' (in the roof tab of the DBX) or use the gable wall tool on the lower toolbar. You can specify the flooring, walls, etc as you would in any other room through the DBX for the room or the walls.

The total thickness of your lower wall (foundation) is 8" but your pony wall (lower section) is 8 15/16".
