The private beta is in process and will be opening to more people. We'll post a new thread soon on the specifics. You can request to be on the list by sending an email to beta@ chiefarchitect.com

Rachel, if plot lines and changing the layer weights is not working for you, perhaps call in to our tech dept and see if they can help.
-
Rachel, are you sending your views to layout as 'live views' or 'plot lines'? Live Views are fast and look 'okay' and can be used for watercolor and other styles. Plot Lines will give a crisper view and you can adjust your line weights by layer.

It should not matter which floor the terrain is on. To remove the terrain below those decks, you use a terrain hole as noted by Mark. If that does not work, perhaps sketch a picture of what you are after.

Lane, can you post the file?

Sometimes at 3-way wall intersections, the wall layers compete. The ‘edit wall layer intersections’ tool or marking one of the exterior walls as ‘through at end or start’ can fix it – not always. In this case, you can use a wall type of ‘partition’ for your invisible wall; it does not cut the layers of opposing walls (like glass shower walls). I made a copy of your “Lean to Wall”, marked it as a partition, and it looks to work. Try it out.

For your center room area, raise the ceiling height slightly, say 1/4" it will force the auto roof to build higher like your image; and increase the pitch on the side walls. I did notice some of the exterior walls had a few odd settings, so I disconnected and rejoined them for the roof build.

Jim, I see this is solved by a few others already. Just highlighting what has been said:
-never overlap terrain elevation data – especially if it differs in elevation
-avoid using elevation points – as possible
-your 3D solids for walls worked well; you might consider using the terrain wall tool; it will break terrain for you. You may need to shape it in an elevation view
-in the attached image, you can see that by moving the walls out of the way, deleting your 120” elevation lines, removing the elevation overlap, the contours should be about what you are expecting.
BTW – we will have a live Terrain webinar Jan. 11, 2024.

The beta of X16 is projected to begin in the later part of Q1 (this is the private by invitation portion of the beta). We have been working on a variety of projects during this release cycle and I think you will find a few surprises and enhanced productivity tools for your design efficiency, like…. 3D dimensions. More to come as we get closer.

Mike, the Silverton Sample Plan has 4 walk-thru paths that make up this walk-thru video (not 3 as I said earlier). They are stitched together with external software, like the built in video editor with your OS. You can open the Silverton sample, change the saved plan view to ‘Walk-Thru’ and see the paths and the settings used. Path #4 uses the PBR ray traced camera settings. BTW, we do have 1-1 training and the lady that did the how-to video can help if you need…

Here’s a 1-minute 3D walk-thru of the Silverton Sample Plan (it's three separate walk-thru paths). If you watch the how-to video @DBCopper posted above, that’s a great start. Below are my starting points.

With a computer that supports real-time ray tracing (GPU), you can make renderings in seconds – of course that is after you build, decorate, and light your model. If your computer does not support real-time ray tracing (GPU), you can use the CPU; it takes minutes to hours for a render. Attached are two GPU render examples and one CPU of the latest Chief Architect X15 Silverton Sample Plan.
Chief Architect models can be exported to external renders - like Twinmotion, and achieve additional fidelity with the renders.

Levina, can you post the plan?

These flat-roofed projects don't have parapets but do have structural metal decking bearing on wood framing. The tower project has rigid tapered insulation, making the roof surface like a hipped roof pitched 1/4" in 12" all four ways.

Lotsa good info here about tapered roof insulation https://www.insulfoam.com/tapered-insulation/
Thanks Gene for the info!

My comments would have been similar to Rene's; at that scale I'd try to be sure that the flashing components are highlighted. The roof assembly components could just as easily be identified with the callout for that assembly. Here are some of my illustrations; feel free to examine and pick apart what you like / dislike and then determine how you might adjust your detail.
These are great cutaways!

There’s a video on shower walls. Skip to 5:15 to see the frame glass option.
