I put a star on the prt i am trying to add (5")  and then have it show on materials list as 5" alder , x amount of feet.

It will be a single window as shown in other picture.

It's best to reply in your original thread.

Please post images directly -- no need to make a PDF of an image. This makes it easier for others as an image shows in the forum.

There is no "Chief Arch 10 pro". Could you be clearer on what software you have?

  2. Home Designer pro user...

Hi, could someone help/inform me, re cad lines at an angle or any angle? the lines are jagged and pixelated.

My question is, is this normal or is it my PC or the lack of a proper graphics card. It's driving me crazy... HELP!!

  3. Micheal,

I have a question and without a lot of silly answers from others I thougtht I would just ask you since you are the Guru in my eyes.  I just got feedback from the planning dept. on a project that I am working on and it brought up a question that I have not had a chance to make this type of change in CA as of yet.  I have created a floor plan for an attached guest house but not I need to reflect the plan so the entrance is on the opposite side.  How do I take everything that I have on the addition and flip it without doing the whole plan itself?  I am at a loss as I have the perfect plan just want to flip the addition.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Chris

Maybe everyone should just ask Michael directly to avoid getting any silly answers. I'm sure Michael the guru would not mind answering all the questions.

  4. I have drawn a house plan on the $99. version of Chief Architect and need actual blueprints to build.  Can you help with this?  Hoping you could upload my plan and wouldn't have to start from scratch.

    Thanks,

  5. Hello,

I am trying to put dormers in my house model, and it keeps doing this weird thing.

i use the "Automatic Floating Dormer" tool, and i place it where i want it, but then when i look at it in the 3D view, it's all wonky. The window sits way up high, and i can see the roof layers beneath it!?!

when i move the window down, i see the plywood and stuff through it :/

Please create a Topic, not a Status. It's helpful to have your plan file to look at, and also to know what software you are using. See this topic on how to complete your signature. http://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk

  6. Hey Eric,

Being the guru of Auto-roof I wanted to ask, Is it possible to have a shed roof in roof group 0 slope down to a hip which serves as the high shed on a lower garage roof group 1?

I can do it manually but I could not get it to work with auto-build

Here is a terrible pic taken by my company owner for reference:

Not sure I understand how the roofs are set up, but I'm guessing no.

What might be handy when using roof groups is roof directives in walls tied to a roof group, so one wall could have multiple roof directives, each tied to a specific roof group.

All kinds of workarounds used by the Home Designer users that do not have manual roofs.

  7. Hello,

I am reaching out to see if anyone can help me create these windows on the second level of the house that I am currently working on in Chief Architect 10. I am having an issue with the slanted set of windows on the top row. I tried to create the effect by positioning a soffit to cover them but that did not work, unfortunately. I looked in the library and there are no window selections to match this style. Any tips? Thank you ahead of time!

You should start a new thread in General Q&A.

  8. You are a big help to others. Thank You!

I was wondering if you could help me with getting all the bugs worked out on a complicated roof design if I sent you the plan file. I would of course donate to your cause. My problem is I don't have enough time to learn it. I have been using Chief for about 20 years now so I'm not new at this. I set up everything to run live and I use annotation sets so I have a lot of time learning and building my template.

Right now I'm trying to do an as build and they must have added on to this house 3 or 4 times so its cut up. I got the outside to look right but from the inside you can see all the penetrations from the roof lines. Frustrating!

The addition I'm adding is the area where I put the Mansard roof. Seemed like a good way to do it to keep it simple and keep the cost down. Also I think the city would prefer a lower profile roof.

I'm sending you the plan file in case you would like to take a look for me. I would much appreciate it.

Someone building this would start by cutting back the overhangs on the intruding roof planes.

I noticed you have a ridge showing. Is that correct?

For questions like this, it would help to have an as-built model as a comparison.
