  1. There are many problems with the plan not counting the dormers. If using Chief as part of a business, you might consider some training, or simply studying the many free resources available for learning on your own.

  4. Try a short wall to trim the point. I'd draw some cad lines where you want the main layer to be, then draw in walls as they should easily snap to the lines. You probably will get the unconnected wall warning like is shown in my image, but you can ignore it.
  5. Thanks to DB Cooper and someone unknown at Chief.
  6. No need to Block. If there are multiple parts, you do need to select them all.
  7. Not suggesting this is the only or best way -- just one way.
  8. Just another method. Make Pony Wall. Lower wall is all drywall and width to cover bottom of stairs. Drag wall bottom up in elevation.
  9. Just taking a quick look at this, I'd consider accumulating values in an array making the macro self adjusting for number of floors. $sf[owner.floor_number.to_i]=owner.standard_area.to_s Then (and I know puts won't work in Chief) to print the array starting with index of 1 (floor 1) to the end of the array. $sf[1..-1].each { |s| puts s }
  10. Video showing what I described above.
  11. An experiment showing how one might total living areas from multiple floors.
  12. This question comes up often enough, and the program has changed in the past few years, so this shows the process in X12. Watch on YouTube: http://youtu.be/9DzRnH9C4O4?hd=1
  13. And here is a Ray Trace from a similar position. 15 minutes and no adjustment of materials, backdrop etc, and with only minor adjustments to the image made within Chief. The problem with PBR is lighting. Screen capture from the video. Note how the doors and skylights render bright white, and how bright the outside light looks through the door on the left. And a Ray Trace from a similar position. I very rarely Ray Trace interiors, so just guessed at the settings. And I wonder how PBR or PBR + RTRT would handle lighting like this?
