  1. For those who may be interested, here’s a video I just watched:
  2. Using a 3Dconnexion space mouse will take care of your problem.
  3. I can tell you how I do it to get accurate framing... but it requires me to send chief's plans to another CAD program... kind of like what some will do by rendering in another program (ie. Lumion). Sorry, but I have discussed this with tech support and there is no automatic way of doing what you are asking in Chief... as far as I know. Here is an example of a "spaced" header and one placed to the outside:
  4. And a bottom plate under the header for nailing your interior trim.
  5. What happens when you use auto label and check include schedule number?
  6. SPV's are a big step forward in increasing productivity... IMHO of course. The next step would be to allow us to drag and drop SPV's from the project browser into the layout. Or, better yet, allow us to "assign" SPV's to certain areas in the layout.
  7. Have you looked at the Home Designer Pro? The price is reasonable... to help you get started in your new career.
  8. Allow me to suggest you sign up for SSA and you will always have the latest. Well worth the price of admission, imho.
  9. No. I do my framing using SoftPlan.
  10. I wonder if you saved each floor to your library and then pasted it to the corresponding floor level of your 3 floor model...
  11. This is how we like to do it...
  12. Dan Baumann's updated site is: https://www.chiefexpertsacademy.com/ And is well worth the price of admission.
  13. Don't forget to install H1 hurricane tie downs?
  14. Like a carpenter with more than one saw... why not have more than one design software? If Mango is working for a large builder, surely they can afford it. Have you seen these building options videos, Jorge? https://youtu.be/k-AcCtKj0gs https://youtu.be/g4YFuULmu6M
  15. Can’t we already do this by having a template page for each group in our plan set?
  16. Have you tried to copy and paste into a text box?
  17. Don't forget to check your bonus library for additional CAD details
  18. Had lunch with Red Foxx back in the 70’s... Yuma AZ... has us laughing the whole lunch.
  19. Have you tried moving your OSB and rigid insulation to the main layer in your wall definition?
  20. Always fun to watch a professional at work! ps. How did you get to be so smart? ;-)
  21. A little while back I did a split level for someone... I just followed this from the Chief KB and didn't have any problems/ https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00932/creating-a-split-level-structure.html
  22. Here's is an interesting viewpoint on this subject from a few years back by Joe Stoddard: https://forums.jlconline.com/forums/forum/jlc-online-expert-forums/business-technology/57160-mitek-sapphire-build
  23. Tracing over a dwg drawing is not that hard. How much would it be worth to your prospect to have 3D renderings, is the question. If you don't want to do it, send the guy to me!
