  1. Leave auto build roofs on while changing the roof settings in the wall dbx until you get what you want. Tile a plan and a 3D view while working. You may have to relocate some walls slightly to get the roof to build properly and so that you can eliminate some of the little quirks
  2. I think you may find your object on the 3D Solids layer. The label will probably be on the Footings, Post layer
  3. I don't think he is using the middle move handle to move the wall. That grip will centre on the wall only for a short distance either side of the centre point. It is not restricted to the centre of the wall - it will locate where you click on the wall. Turning off Intersection Snaps or all Object Snaps prevents the use of Wall Intersection Extension Snaps because they share the same setting. See the help file in my previous post. This tool has been like this for yonks (as long as I can remember.
  4. Notice the roof framing showing through the roof surface on those rear roof planes. Hence my suggestion to increase the thickness of the roof surface material.
  5. DB, I don't think the red cross is a plain old intersection snap. I believe it is a Wall Intersection Extension Snap. Like this when drawing continuous walls: In the video the wall is snapping to itself. Wall Intersection Extension Snaps As walls are drawn, extension lines identify points that are either collinear or orthogonal to the end points of other walls. These extension lines identify potential intersection points and display only when Intersection Snaps are enabled. See Creating Walls.
  6. Neil, No .pdf attached. I would auto build that roof. I would also increase the Roof Surface (the corrugated iron) thickness to something greater than 3mm (have a play) to clean up the roof planes in a 3D view. ie, so you don't see the framing through the roof surface.
  7. There is limited functionality that will allow some things, depending on your situation and needs. If you want to do this as a standard everyday tool, then DB is correct. If you just want to locate an item that you have lost in plan view and want to find it from a 3D view you can make a material list of the object and then in the ML you can use Find Object in Plan. The object will be selected in the plan view.
  8. You added a break to what? If it was something like a cad line or a wall, you grab the grip at the break and drag it to the end of the wall or line. Or...if the break is in a cad line, you can select the line and on the Edit toolbar, use Simplify Polyline.
  9. No, it was called Print Model. X10 was the last version.
  10. This kid is going to poop in his pants. He also forgot to lift the lid! This is not going to end well!
  11. While you can place walls on top of each by nominating one as No Room Definition, I wouldn't recommend it for more than a wall or two. Reference display is the usual way to go.
  12. Select the symbol in an elevation view. Select Edit Wall Cutout Polyline from the Edit menu (second in from end). Edit the cutout shape.
  13. Anyway, the OP says he is going over to Revit so not much point in continuing this thread.
  14. Without knowing what you are doing..... Open the Line Style dbx for the north pointer. Down the bottom, click Number Style and select Quadrant Bearing. Open General Cad Defaults and check Quadrant Bearing.
  15. Try raising the bottom of the door by the height of the bottom plate.
  16. I do something similar. Draw the first structure using the defaults. Draw the second structure as one big room following the external wall if possible. Edit the heights (take note of the Absolute and Relative heights) for the second structure and divide it up into your rooms. Roofs should all work as normal.
  17. All these posts and still no plan posted!
  18. I will have one guess without the plan. In the Wall Definition dbx, open the Materials tab and select one of the entries and then Select Material... Down at the bottom of the Select Material dbx, select Use Default Material. Do the same for the other material.
  19. I assume you use a 3D Solid and curved it. Select the Solid by the curved edge. On the Edit menu select Convert Curve To Polyline. You can then specify the number of segments.
  20. That is the preview of the cross section in the Project Browser. Double click either the preview or the cross section name in the Project Browser and the cross section window should open.
  21. If all you want is cad, you could do a Cad Detail From View and then delete everything from the plan.
  22. Is this the secret handshake? Rooms can be overlapped: when this is the case, the room box edges drawn in front will be converted to walls when the Build House tool is used. By default, smaller rooms draw over larger rooms; however, you can control their drawing order. See Drawing Groups.
  23. If you butt 2 rooms of the same type up against each other, Chief will not build a wall between.
  24. Yes, if you use the Child Tool Pallet.
