  2. If I recall correctly X12 worked the same as X15 does in this regard. You need to set the Layer Set for the saved view you're in.
  3. Sorry, I didn't explain it well enough. The bathroom and the garage are both going to be on the first (and only) floor. So I need to show floor framing with 1 side being stem wall and the other being framing.
  4. add a second story and just put the bathroom in it ..plus the stairwell
  5. It should be listed under your "available columns" so you should be able to click on it and then click on the "add =>" button for it to show up under "columns to include".
  6. it's not listed under "columns to include". Can I create a custom column? And will that column actually be linked to the model?
  7. I'm going to be putting in a small bathroom over the garage. 1 wall of the bathroom will be at the garage/house stem wall, so I need to build a framed floor over just that section of garage. I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Any tips? Thanks

  9. I'm using Chief Architect X12. I have a Foundation Plan and Basement Plan every time I make a call out to one plan it's showing up on the other plan. I know it's due to my Layer Set settings but not sure how to unlink the two. I have a Layer display option for each one one for Foundation and one for Basement can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.
  10. You could always add the thickness column to your schedule.
  11. Thanks Jason for your feedback. I think I'll just have to dive into this swimming pool and see how it goes! Jim
  12. I want my passage doors to be 1 3/4 thick and my closet doors to be 1 3/8 thick. The door schedule only shows width by height. Is there a way to show thickness? I realize I could put this in the comments field of the schedule, but I don't know why the door thickness is not considered a relevant field. Am I missing something? thanks
  13. i tried out the plan footprint but found too many limitations (for instance I have to show eaveline on site plans and the plan footprint does not show this. Yes, one can concentric make a polyline, but with different overhang depths, this is a pain) Cantilevers do not show, front landings, decks do not show). But I will concur the terrain tools leave something to be desired. One would think it would be simple to create a even sloping grade next to a foundation, and different elevation points along the property lines. but it is not that simple that I have found. I inevitably draw a grade line on an elevation. For the site plan I have a reference view of the roofs and the main floor plan plus the CAD lines for the property line. Then I dimension setbacks to that CAD line
  14. It's always something small. LOL Thank you so much! That did it.
  15. Here's your official invitation to join the beta. We are excited to hear from you!
  16. Doesn't matter at all. going from 0 up 75' is the same interpolation as -75' up to 0. Just be consistent and you'll be fine. Doesn't *technically* matter, it can be on floor 3 if you really want! I prefer it on 0 myself though because of the option that cuts a hole in the terrain where the structure is. I much prefer that hole to be made around my foundation than floor 1 walls. Floor 1 tends to cut more than it should and leaves gaps because of wall siding.
  17. Okay. We're mixing up using Transform/Replicate and just manually rotating. Also I'm not sure how "About Current Point" only lights up with a Point Marker, that doesn't make sense to me. Place a "CAD Point" (not Marker) at the hinge, then in the Edit menu change your Edit Behavior to "Rotate About Current Point". That specifically affects your manual actions using object handles etc. Transform/Replicate also uses CAD Points, but that's where the "About Current Point" option comes in. Not sure why thats not working for you. Frankly I don't use Transform's Reflect often, I'd just use the normal Reflect About tool for that.
  18. I have a terrain that has about a 75' elevation change from road. Is it best for me to make the road 0 and the higher point +75' or 0' the top where it is relatively flat and -75' for the road or does it matter? Don't know if program wise interpolation is faster one way or another? Should terrain elevation data always be on floor 0?
  19. I put a "Point marker" in the middle of the hinge. Selected the object (the gate). Selected transform/replicate. Selected "Reflect" and selected "About a current point", clicked OK. Grabbed the object and tried to rotate and the object selected (the gate). the gate rotates in the middle of the gate object, not around the "point marker". I tried the "Place point" in the middle of the hinge and it doesn't allow me to select "About a current point" if "Reflect" is selected. "About a current point" will only be selected if I use the "point marker".
  20. We are excited to invite you to join our X16 Beta Testing Program. 21. i'll use a 3dsolid if it is not structural. if structural, and large enough, I'll draw a wall and leave a room, but then change the walls to no room definition
  22. Define "didn't work", 'cause that's what its supposed to do. What did happen when you tried that?
  23. I tried your suggestion and it didn't work. I know we are getting warmer though.
  24. Assuming I'm understanding the question right, but if you place a CAD Point in the center of your hinge, then select the Gate shape and in the Transform/Replicate dialog there's an option a the bottom (pretty sure it's the same in X14) to rotate about that point
  25. I have a detailed top cad view of a fence and I'm using welded hinges to a steel post. I need for the gate that it is connected to hinge to rotate so I can see how far I can open the gate in this drawing based on where the hinge is welded to the post. Not seeing a lot of help anywhere on this. The round object in cad view is the hinge. I need the horizontal 1 x 1 square tub and the 2 x 4 attached to rotate around the round hinge. (top view) The yellow horizontal pieces are the dog eared fence slats. A link to how this can work would be great.
